Aronia ‘Low Scape’

Low-growing ground cover shrub that provides beauty from spring through frost. Has great fall color on its foliage and produces fruits ideal for the birds. A tough, tolerant, tidy little mound of glossy green foliage. In spring, it's covered in hundreds of dainty white flowers, and in autumn, the leaves turn brilliant red to contrast with dark purple-black fruit. Perfect for mass planting as a ground cover or edging plant.

Blueberries

Blueberries, especially high bush, can have spectacular & breathtaking foliage colors and large, robust flavored berries. Evergreen ones like Bountiful Blue, Sunshine Blue & Pink Icing have nice turquoise to purple color over winter.

Burning Bush

It is not fall without burning bush! A sensational accent or natural hedge prized for its intense scarlet red fall coloring. The interesting, compact, mounded form displays attractive rich green leaves spring through summer. Exceptional when featured en masse, at the foreground of larger conifers or evergreen shrubs. Deciduous.

Cotoneaster

Be sure to look at ‘Autumn Inferno’, a striking fall color plant with heavy berry set as well this time of year. Cotoneaster has great form ideal for a hedge, easily pruned, great foliage all season long with fiery red fall color. Some even have small red berries in fall that stay on the plant until the birds come and take them, no mess involved. Perfect as a pruned formal hedge or let it go natural. Just enough height to create privacy.

Fothergilla

This nifty native shrub has incredible fall color & in spring it produces honey-scented white flowers. Bottlebrush is one of the most shade tolerant landscape shrubs and thrives in most climates. It's a very nice choice for planting under trees too.

Hypericum

Sunny yellow cup-shaped flowers produce clusters of showy rose-colored berries on well-branched, rust resistant plants with handsome dark green foliage. A fuss-free deciduous shrub ideal for borders and containers. Use as a specimen or low hedge, or plant in showy drifts. Stems of fall berries are a wonderful accent in cut flower arrangements. Check out ‘Pumpin’, ‘Red Star’, and ‘Sangrita’

Jack Frost Maples

New hardier series from Iseli Nursery with stunning fall colors and increased hardiness even for Eastern WA and mountain areas. Final Fire, First Flame, North Wind, Arctic Jade, and Ice Dragon are all great specimen trees for our gardens. These all-season trees have a cascading habit and were bred to tolerate winters while still retaining the refined qualities of the less hardy Japanese maples. Autumn brings foliage of a kaleidoscope of yellows, oranges and reds.

Jade Butterflies Gingko

Dwarf, densely branched, stunning vase-shaped structure with striking bright green leaves and lovely gold fall color. A fruitless male Ginkgo with inconspicuous yellow-green catkins in mid-spring. Slow-growing, eventually becoming a stunning shade tree with age. Deciduous.

Japanese Beautyberry

Glamour for the fall landscape with its hundreds of vibrant violet-purple berries! All varieties have rich spring foliage, but some new varieties take it a step further with dark purple foliage from the get-go. Late summer brings white flowers that eventually give you fall berries. Some even have upright habits, making them space-savers too. Look for new varieties like Pearl Glam and Purple Pearls.

Japanese Maples

Almost all Japanese Maples get stunning fall color, with colors ranging from buttery golds to vibrant oranges & powerful reds. There are many excellent choices available, in a wide variety of sizes too. Look varieties that have interesting bark too like Bihou, Coral Barks & others.

Katsura Tree

A dependable choice for a beautiful seasonal foliage display. Has awesome fall color of oranges & yellows in the fall & also smells like cotton candy! New foliage emerges bronzy in spring & turns blue-green in summer. Has a pyramidal form when young & is great for shade.

Ninebark

These fuss-free deciduous shrubs have nice foliage color all spring/summer, intensifying in fall & most have interesting peely bark for winter months too. Excellent for use as an informal hedge or screen & blooms are lovely in floral arrangements. An adaptable North American native well-suited to difficult sites.

Oak Leaf Hydrangeas

Almost all have great fall foliage color with beautiful blooms in the summer/fall. Newer varieties have more dense, compact, non-flopping habits. Great as a flowering shrub for the garden, grouping and massing. Exfoliating bark adds winter interest, as do the dried flower heads.

Paperbark Maples

A handsome tree with cool colors & interesting bark! Has an oval to rounded crown, an open habit, and upright branching. Soft green leaves turn scarlet in fall. Becomes distinctive and elegant with age, as its papery sheets of bark peel to reveal cinnamon-brown new bark. An excellent small landscape specimen or woodland understory accent. Deciduous.

PG Hydrangeas

Paniculata hydrangeas, commonly known as PeeGee hydrangeas, are sought after for their large, unique shaped blooms that will grow and bloom in a wide variety of climates & do best in the sun. All varieties have beautiful blooms in the summer time, with flowers turning rose and red in the fall. Look for varieties like Diamond Rouge, Fire & Ice and others.

Pink Dawn Viburnum

After putting on a late winter to early spring show of pink flower clusters, the thick, lustrous, rich green leaves cloak its cinnamon-colored branches. Sourwood Trees

A great year round tree with highly sought after stunning red fall color, sometimes even turning to purple. Has rich green leaves throughout the year up to fall & white fragrant flowers in early summer.

Sumac

Produces unparalleled, spectacular fall colors of yellows, oranges & reds. This showy plant can be used as an accent or in mass plantings. It tolerates a wide range of soils as well as urban conditions, and is adaptable to poorly drained soils as well as very dry soil. Look for variety Tiger Eyes, a beautiful golden-leafed form of cutleaf staghorn sumac.

Symphoricarpos

Also known as Snowberries, they are great fall interest plants & provide food and shelter for wildlife too. Summer blooms are followed by abundant, colorful, ornamental fruit in fall. A unique specimen in the winter garden when the leafless stems are blanketed by the attractive fruit. Berries provide food for migrating birds. Berry-filled stems are excellent in floral arrangements. Deciduous. Look for varieties such as Galaxy and Candy.
